The "New Life" Idea for 2026
No Ram? No GPU? No problem...maybe?
Here’s a fun experiment. With all the talk about how none of us can afford RAM or GPUs in the new year, current-gen console prices increasing, and next-gen plans rumored to be delayed, I think it’s time to discuss a possible version of the future no one asked for:
New Content For Old Games
Now, hear me out. This idea was sparked by reports that CD Projekt Red is readying a new DLC drop for The Witcher 3. Yes, that Witcher 3—now ten years old.
It got me thinking: what if this is how we navigate the months or years of waiting for the AI hardware surge to peter out? We turn to games we already know run great on the hardware we already own, opening the floodgates for new stories, quests, weapons, vehicles, and modes. It’s not the most likely scenario, but it’s not half bad.
My “New Life” Wishlist Is Simple
Cyberpunk 2077
Mad Max
Baldur’s Gate 3
Red Dead Redemption 2
(And, of course, that Witcher DLC is always welcome.)
Naturally, we’d let the indie scene fill in the gaps, as they produce more “playable-on-anything” titles than AAA studios ever could. Again, this isn’t the ideal way for the industry to move forward, but it’s a path I’d be okay with if things get too weird on the hardware front.

My back log is so long if I never bought a game again I would probably have enough to play till I'm dead.
Or even actually optimizing games! Especially as they launch instead of years later would be fantastic!
